You're Too Comfortable
If you're constantly asking yourself, "Why can't I ever do the things I want to do?", then there is a good chance you are way too comfortable with where you are in life. Don't let discomfort be your only drive and motivator towards being successful because once you start making just enough money to support yourself, you lose the sense of urgency you once relied on. You begin to only collect the money you need right now and not the money you desire for your future.
What can I do to drive myself forward?
Things like dividing your year into quarters and setting goals for yourself go the distance when it comes to driving yourself. Even the little things like having a to-do list and making your bed first thing in the morning will give you that extra push you may need to get your day going.
Take Action with Momentum & Goal Setting
When someone decides to set goals they are more likely to accomplish them. This is because giving yourself a time limit pushes you to take action instead of saying, "Oh! I'll just do it later". When you check off and see your finished work in front of you get that dopamine rush that sense of accomplishment you can only get by putting in the work. Setting goals will give you that drive to keep going and gain momentum one task at a time.
Day to Day
An example of day-to-day goal setting you can start doing now is just a basic to-do list. Every night before heading to bed or before finishing my work for the day I compile a checklist of things I would like to have finished the next day is over. When it comes to building daily habits, incorporate the little things into your checklist as well until you no longer need to write it down and it just happens naturally.
Quarterly Goals
Dividing your year into 4 quarters will greatly increase your productivity. If you can give yourself goals to accomplish by the end of every 3 months throughout the year, you will be more likely to have them done. This will be greatly multiplied if you can get your hands on a physical copy of your goals like a calendar to have them written down on. Planning is the key to success, so if you can plan out when and how you want something done, you've already gone over one of the biggest hurdles of completion.
