It's Your Fault

Do you really want change? Is making more money, putting on more muscle, and having a more successful life really a priority for you? When was the last time you made a plan and took a step towards the things you want? Are you the type of person who waits for success or do you make successful actions?

Recently I've heard a ton of people saying, "Oh you don't know what I've been through" as an excuse for why they aren't making the most of their time. I understand that nobody is in the same position and nobody has the same history, but we're all sharing the same present moment. Our history may affect the decisions we make and make some more difficult than others, but in the end, if you want to do something, nobody is going to stop you besides yourself. If you want to go to the gym, make a plan and go. Make time.

Making time doesn't mean squeezing in time slots and only being proactive when you feel you're available. It means making a schedule and working out a plan to succeed. Jot down your plan and stick to it, even if it means putting in the work to create a document and laying out a plan or finding a calendar to make your schedule.

If you want to lose weight, lose it. Create a meal plan and workout schedule, then stick to it. Tell others "No thank you" when they offer you food that's not included in your diet. Don't tell people you're going to do something, you should show them that you are doing something. Be weary about announcing your goals to the world because some psychologists suggest that doing so releases the dopamine that you should've earned by completing a task prematurely leaving you unmotivated to commit. When people ask you to go out and you haven't at the very least gone on a walk, reject them and say "Sorry I have plans". The line, "No pain. No Gain." doesn't only refer to physical pain but mental as well. As much as you want to do something else, you have to put your future first.

If you want to make more money, make it. Create other forms of income to support you and the ones you love. Start a side hustle, begin working more, go back to school, and put in more hours. Set your goals, make a plan, and follow through. Working isn't just a 9-5, it's a mindset. If you have a working mindset, Yes, you will have less time to go out or play video games but these sacrifices are temporary. In the end, if you are willing to discipline yourself enough to wake up early and go to sleep at a reasonable hour, just so you can rise and grind once more, chances are you will be more productive than you could imagine. There are plenty of side things you can do to make more money. Just pick one, and stick to it. If you drop it later down the line, at least you learned how to grow.

The only person who's at fault for nothing changing is You. Be the person you want to be before someone else is.
